About Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park, known locally as Parc National des Volcans, is Rwanda's premier gorilla trekking destination and one of the oldest national parks in Africa. Located in the northwest of Rwanda, the park protects the steep slopes of the magnificent Virunga Mountains, home to the endangered mountain gorilla and a rich mosaic of montane ecosystems. The park is part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area that straddles Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
